Classified | TAM
When Fluidshell Design puts its stamp on a percussion instrument, the result is Classified | TAM.
Classified | TAM is the first group of instruments in the collection, dedicated to head percussion. Forget what a drum, snare drum or bass drum is: TAM explores vibrating heads without distinction.
With a design method still based on experimentation and modularity, Fluidshell Design shows us what it means to go beyond emulation and sampling. Classified is a new collection that highlights the richness made possible by combining resynthesis and the use of resonators.
Two percussive sources are mixed in a common resonator, with sufficient but accessible controls. The interface is built entirely around self-explanatory pictograms.
Rather than sampling dozens of drum kits and as many drum machines, which would have resulted in an insane amount of samples, Fluidshell Design offers you the tool to build the sounds you need to your liking, while allowing you to bring them to life during the performance.
What is realism compared to the power of imagination?
Classified | TAM uses two short samples and a resonator system.
The short samples are taken from our own recordings, and the resonators are impulse response files precisely crafted to work with the short samples.
Most of the time, we used a pair of microphones and a contact sensor for recording. The samples are then processed through various devices, including a modular synthesiser.
The choice of resonator greatly affects the final sound. While working on the Seraphim prototypes, we learned a lot about the interaction between filter networks and resonators. The Classified collection benefits from this experience. And so will you.

Our ‘flagships’, such as STIGMATA or, in this case, CLASSIFIED | instruments, are collections in their own right.
As such, they benefit from a two-point updating programme.
Firstly, quality updates: bug fixes and enhancements. Based on feedback from our users, we endeavour to correct any problems as quickly as possible. We also listen to suggestions for improving the use of the instrument concerned. This also means adding new features.
Then there are the continuity updates. These are new instruments that are gradually added to the collection. If we take the example of STIGMATA, our previous flagship, the collection has been gradually expanded, from 8 to over 20 instruments.
Continuity updates are interesting both for users, who regularly get new instruments without spending more, and for us, because they continually revitalise the product.
Most of the time, quality updates are accompanied by continuity updates.
We think this is the nicest way to keep our instruments alive while giving you an extra dose of inspiration.
CLASSIFIED is an instrument for Kontakt, the full version is a must, you can use CLASSIFIED from Kontakt version 8.6. In addition to the official recommendations of Native Instruments, we have determined that CLASSIFIED feels most comfortable with a 7th generation Intel i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM (16 recommended) and a screen with a minimum resolution of 1920x1080. It is very fond of controllers (MIDI keyboards, pads, button controllers and others), we strongly advise you to take advantage of them.
